So, the Nations Cup final in Barcelona has started! Today, the 1st round of the team competition took place on the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona battlefield, in which 15 of the best teams from around the world took part, including the Uzbekistan team, which qualified for the finals from the Eurasian League.
According to the rules of the competition, based on the results of the first round, the teams either qualify for the “consolation final”, the Challenge Cup, and perform under the evening lights on Saturday, or qualify for the big final on Sunday and get the opportunity to compete for the main trophy, which passes from winner to winner of the Nations Cup (and , of course, for big prize money).
By the way, for “double zeros” in both rounds, riders receive a cash bonus regardless of the final result of their team.
The first zero of the route was shown by the German rider Jana Wargers. She rode the 14-year-old Dorette (by Dollar du Murier).
During the performance of the last four riders of the national teams, only Germany and Great Britain remained in the lead with zero penalties on the scoreboard. They were followed by the teams of Brazil, USA, Belgium, Spain, Mexico and Switzerland with a result of 4 sh.o. for each team.
Gregory Watelet was the final rider of the Belgian team. Together with Bond Jamesbond de Hay (from Diamant de Semilly) he made one fall, leaving Belgium with 8 points. after the 1st round of the Nations Cup, allowing the defending champions to advance to Sunday's main final.
The USA also finished the performance with 8 sh.o. due to a mistake by Laura Kraut and Dorado. The result of Great Britain was in the hands of the young rider Harry Charles, and here luck was on their side: together with Aralyn Blue (Chacco Blue), Harry did not make a single blot on the route, thus Great Britain became the only team to complete its performance in the first round without penalty points.
The final rider from the German team, Richard Vogel, decided not to start and save his strength for the final day. The team had to take into account the result of Christian Kukuk - 4 sh.o.

По правилам соревнований по итогам первого гита сборные проходят либо в «утешительный финал», Challenge Cup, и выступают под вечерними огнями в субботу или квалифицируются в большой финал в воскресенье и получают возможность побороться за главный трофей, переходящий от победителя к победителю Кубка наций (и, конечно, за большие призовые).
Кстати, за «двойные нули» в обоих гитах всадники получают денежный бонус независимо от финального результата их команды.
Первый ноль в маршруте показала немецкая всадница Яна Варгерс. Она выступала на 14-летней Dorette (от Dollar du Murier).
